What the current data says
Statistics Canada reported that 12.2% of Canadian businesses used AI to produce goods or deliver services in 2025, up from 6.1% a year earlier. A further 14.5% planned to adopt AI in the next 12 months. Adoption is moving quickly, but it is not yet universal.
Among businesses not planning adoption, the dominant response was that AI was not relevant to their goods or services. Other barriers included lack of knowledge, privacy and security concerns, perceived immaturity, cost, skills, and missing data. The practical implication is that buyers need a use case tied to existing work, not a broad technology pitch.
BDC’s 2026 reporting frames execution and digital maturity as the central gap. CFIB reported in 2025 that 92% of small businesses used digital tools, but only 10% had fully integrated them across operations. An AI layer added to disconnected tools may intensify the handoff problem rather than solve it.
Services with the clearest near-term need
1. Workflow diagnosis and integration
Map the process, define ownership, connect approved data, and decide where AI is useful versus where ordinary automation is enough.
2. Lead, intake, and follow-up operations
High-value service businesses can evaluate this work against response time, ownership, conversion, and administrative load using their own baseline data.
3. AI product reliability and security
Teams that have already adopted AI need auth, data isolation, evaluation, logging, rollback, and human approval more urgently than another prototype.
4. Cost and governance for autonomous agents
As AI systems take longer-running actions, companies need budgets, scope policy, stop conditions, and evidence that outcomes were actually produced.
What this brief does not prove
National adoption data does not prove that any particular service will sell, that a specific automation will produce ROI, or that LaunchSoloAI will be recommended by a search engine. It supports a testable market thesis. Conversion, search demand, and project outcomes still need to be measured.
